Ombudsman launched events dedicated to 1 June

The Commissioner for human rights of Azerbaijan launched a series of events on the occasion of 1 June - International Children’s Day.

Within those events and Human Rights Month-Long Campaign Commissioner received a group of pupils of secondary school No. 118 of Baku city at their request giving them broad information about historical background of National Azerbaijan Democratic State of 1918 and the work of the Ombudsman in the field of human rights protection of various groups of population.

The Commissioner gave broad information on the work of the Office, including the protection of human rights, particularly the rights of disadvantaged group of population, mutual cooperation of the Office with the civil society institutions and media and its 24-hour hotline on child rights. 

In general, within these days, the Commissioner and her staff meet with children, disseminate them educational materials on their rights; as well as present certificates of participation at the Child Rights Hierarchic Education project run by the Ombudsman Office in secondary schools throughout the country. 

Alike, such visits are conducted annually to the vulnerable group of population, particularly to correction facilities to familiarize with the situation of juveniles.  

On this day, the Commissioner visited the women prison facility No. 4 and familiarized with the situation of female prisoners with small dependants.
