Representatives of Ombudsman attended conference on enhancing the labor legislation

Representatives of Ombudsman attended conference on enhancing the labor legislation

International Labor Organization (ILO) in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population have launched a conference “International Practice in Enhancement of Labor legislation for prevention of illegal labor relations”.  Staff members of the Ombudsman Office have attended this event. 

Presentations on definition of labor relations in international experience, non-standard forms of employment, legal practice of selected states, practice of EU institutions responsible for implementing legislation, analyze of specific cases and the relevant presentation about current situation in Azerbaijan.

Information about the process of implementation of the ILO Decent Work Country Program for 2016-2020 jointly with the ILO, actions taken for realization of the concept “decent work” in the country, harmonization of legal and normative acts in line with the Action Plan on Prevention of informal employment in Azerbaijan, approved by the Presidential Order dated 9 October 2017, strengthening control mechanisms, establishing monitoring and evaluation system and awareness and propaganda work  and their perspectives was discussed.

Recommendations in relation to enhancing the legislation and know-how to eliminate related legal shortages have been discussed.  

The participating organizations of the abovementioned conference are the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population, State Agency for Public Service  and Social Innovations under the President of Azerbaijan, National Confederation of Enterpreneurs’ (Employers) of Azerbaijan,  Azerbaijan Confederation of Trade Unions, National Academy of Sciences and other relevant bodies, as well as Mr. Nicolas Shtuder,  expert of the ILO DWT for Eastern Europe and and Central Asia country office, and Mr. Jason Heyes, professor of Sheffield University.
