Representatives of Ombudsman attended conference on gender equality and women empowerment

Conference entitled “Current situation, problems and solutions in economic empowerment of women and ensuring the right to equality” by Democracy Monitor Public Union and UNDP. Turan Jahangirova and Lamiya Zeynalova, Ombudsman’s representatives attended the event.

In her speech T. Jahangirova noted that the Commissioner took a number of measures for providing women with employment, micro-loans and other financial resources to expand their economic opportunities, organizing income-generating activities for them and expanding access to basic social, particularly education and medical services, urged the competent authorities to address the problems of women in small and large entrepreneurship in cities and villages and as a result, many entrepreneur women's problems in this area have been eliminated.

It was added that the project entitled "Empowering Women in the Displacement Situations", implemented by the Ombudsman institution together with the UNHCR in both the capital and the regions is aimed at ensuring gender equality, prevention of domestic violence, increasing the representation of IDP women in the society, as well as their economic stimulation at the level of small and medium entrepreneurship and other components.
