Representative of Ombudsman attended an event dedicated to the World Autism Awareness Day

On the occasion of 2 April- the World Autism Awareness Day, the events were held by the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University and the "Autism" Public Union of Defectology and Psychological Assistance Center.

The representative of the Ombudsman Mugalib Mahmudov attended the events.

He gave broad information about the work done by the Ombudsman for protection of the rights of persons including children with autism. He said that autism syndrome causes not only medical but also social and psychological problems, therefore it is important to take comprehensive measures to combat this problem and expand the awareness raising work.

During the event the issues of autism syndrome, ways to fight it, psychological, pedagogical and social rehabilitation of these children and ways of changing society's attitude to them were discussed and many questions were answered.
