Ombudsman’s representatives attended final event on tobacco control

Public Health and Reform Center at the Ministry of Healthcare held the final meeting of the Technical Advisory Group on "Enhancing tobacco control legislation in Azerbaijan". Mahir Mammadov and Gulnar Rahimova the representatives of the Ombudsman office participated in the meeting.

At the event, information was given about the goals, objectives and the outcomes of the project on strengthening tobacco control legislation and practice.

In their speeches Ombudsman’s representatives focused on Commissioner’s activity for protection of the right to health and the right to live in a healthy environment, her comprehensive proposals on improvement of legislation and complex measures taken in this regard.

It was noted within the framework of Technical Advisory Group the staff members of the Ombudsman Office provided consultative services to strengthen tobacco control legislation, made proposals on improvement of legislation with regard to Azerbaijan's commitments on the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control also international experience and took active participation in campaign and round tables organized in this field.
