Next events were held within the framework of child rights month-long campaign

Series of events were held by Ombudsman’s Ganja, Sheki, Guba and Jalilabad Regional Centers within the framework of child rights month-long campaign.

The events were attended by the representatives of local executive bodies, other relevant agencies, municipalities, NGOs and communities, teachers and children themselves.  Heads of Regional Centers informed participants about rights and duties of children enshrined in international and national normative legal acts, the Convention on the Rights of the Child, as well as in Law on Child Rights of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the actions taken by the state for protection these rights.

They also spoke about the multi-dimensional activity of the Commissioner in ensuring and protecting the rights of children including refugee and IDP children, children with disabilities, her proposals for improvement of legislation in this field, work carried out for combating violence against children and 916 hot line service of Ombudsman.

Moreover, Ombudsman representatives attended the events on “Let’s learn our rights” and “Harmful habits and drug abuse among teenagers” held in Baku city secondary schools.  

In their speeches representatives of the Ombudsman focused on the aim and importance of child month-long campaign, as well as on Ombudsman’s competences and main activity directions in protection of child rights, investigation of applications in this field, legal awareness work, monitoring carried out by the Ombudsman Office, promotion of healthy life style among children and youth, proposals made for improvement of legislation

During the event publications prepared by the Ombudsman Office, including posters on child rights were disseminated among participants.
