NPG members conducted visits to TDP and police stations

Upon the instruction of the Commissioner, National Preventive Group (NPG) members conducted a planned visit to Temporary Detention Place (TDP), police stations 27, 28, 29 of Yasamal District Police Department without prior notice.

The aim of these visits was to investigate detention condition, treatment, ensuring the rights of detainees and documentation.

During the visit to TDP, documents on conforming the legality of detention, as well as on detention condition and treatment were examined, all corpses of the facility, the quality of food, nutrition, healthcare service, walking, telephone calls and state of ensuring other rights of the detained persons were monitored, needs were learned.

The outcome of the visit was discussed with the administration of Police Department, improvement of documentation and handling applications were among discussed issues, recommendations were given in compliance with national and international legislation.

Police stations 27, 28, 29 were also monitored, legal enlightenment conversations were conducted with respective employees, recommendations were given for eliminating shortcomings in and improvement of documentation.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs will be informed about the outcomes of the visit.
