The opening ceremony of the seventeenth academic year was held at the Leadership School of Azerbaijani Child and Youth Peace Network, created at the initiative of the Ombudsman as Resource Center for child rights.
The event was attended by Ombudsman, deputy head of UNICEF Azerbaijan Office, the representatives of State Committee on Family, Women and Child Affairs, Baku Education Office, Sabail District Executive Power, new members involved in the school, as well as the graduates, parents and teachers.
The Commissioner spoke about the adoption of the first Constitution of independent Azerbaijan and further additions and amendments made to it. She informed participants about the Ombudsman’s multi-dimensional activity for ensuring and protecting child rights, project of hierarchic education of child rights which is implemented at secondary schools.
She added more than 1500 students graduated from Leadership School which contributes to development, enrichment of outlook of children, learning their rights and teaching these rights to their peers, growing up these children as leaders.
Later on, other guests also made speeches, members of the School provided information about the activity of Leadership School, events, held by the school.
Moreover, children had interactive discussions with the deputy head of UNICEF Azerbaijan on child rights.
At the end of the event, Certificates were presented to Network members for successful graduation from the Leadership school, also to active participants of 2017 ENOC/ENYA (European Network of Young Advisors) Project and event held by SOCAR Department of Ecology.
