Elmira Suleymanova, the Commissioner for Human Rights received Robert Sekuta, Ambassador of the USA to Azerbaijan. The Ambassador was accompanied by David Burnstein, Political Affairs Officer.
Commissioner informed guest about the cooperation of Ombudsman Office with state bodies, civil society, NGOs, international organizations.
It was noted during public hearings held in each city and rayon of the country with participation of local executive bodies, and law-enforcement bodies, municipalities, NGOs local communities and mass media, complainers were received privately, measures were taken for solution of problems raised by them, moreover, Police Offices were visited.
The Commissioner stressed the importance of referring to information received from reliable sources based on public opinion.
Rashid Rumzadeh, Head of National Preventive Group talked about the condition of penitentiary services, work done for ensuring rights, particularly the right to health of detainees, inmates, recommendations given and their implementation status and effective cooperation built with those facilities.
Robert Sekuta thanked for warm reception, exchange of views, noted that human rights are priority for all countries, talked about the perspectives of cooperation among the USA and Azerbaijan.
Questions of Ambassador were responded at the meeting.
