The representative of the Ombudsman Office attended an event held in CoE

Recently, consultation meeting of National Preventive Mechanism coordinators from European and other countries was co-organized by CoE and the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights.

Head of Department of the Ombudsman Office and of National Preventive Group Rashid Rumzadeh attended the event.

Draft European Guidelines on Migrants was discussed at the meeting. The representative of the Azerbaijani Ombudsman made comments on the document, also informed the participants about reforms carried out in the country for implementation of international standards in the national legislation, improvement of normative-legal base, active participation of the Azerbaijani Ombudsman on these processes as an NPM, her proposals, monitorings conducted in places which persons cannot leave on their free will, projects realized together with international organizations etc.

Later on, participants discussed cooperation among institutions having National Preventive Mechanism mandate, and National Human Rights Institutions, current challenges and future targets.
