Representative of the Azerbaijani Ombudsman attended international event in Poland

Academy of National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) was held in Poznan, Poland.  The sessions of the Academy were dedicated to promotion of human rights and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Representative of the Azerbaijani Ombudsman Office, Elmin Jafarov attended the event. He noted that Azerbaijani Ombudsman Office is functioning according to the UN Paris Principles and is accredited with “A” Status and informed the participants about the work done by the Commissioner regarding SDGs.

He informed participants about the Commissioner’s proposal on involving NGOs to the implementation of SDGs, considering that NHRIs are playing the role of “bridge” between civil society and the government.

It was added that National Coordination Council on SDGs had been set up and three representatives of Ombudsman are actively participating in the Council.

At the end Ombudsman’s representative was presented a certificate of the Academy.
