Recently, some staff members of the Ombudsman Office had a study trip to Poland in order to share experience and to strengthen the Ombudsman's activity in the fields of protection of the rights of children, persons with disabilities and the elderly within the framework of the second phase of Twining Project.
On the first day of the visit a meeting was conducted with the Ombudsman of Poland and the deputy on Equal Behavior, exchange of views was held. Another meeting was held with Poland’s Ombudsman for Children and the staff of the Office. Staff of the Azerbaijani Ombudsman learned the mandate, competences of the Polish Ombudsman for Children, shared the experience in the field combating violence against children and protection of the rights of children with disabilities.
The Azerbaijani delegation also met with the representatives for persons with disabilities and the elderly of the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Protection, the members of Expert Commissions at the Ombudsman Office on the same issues, representatives of municipalities and high schools in Warsaw.
During the trip they also got familiar with the accessibility for persons with disabilities and the elderly at the Polish Ombudsman Office, the work carried out for protection of their rights, priorities, challenges and best practices in this field, reception and investigation of applications, electronic documentation process, etc.
