A conference on “The Role of Civil Society in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Azerbaijan” was held. The event was attended by the Commissioner, high rank officials, the members of the Parliament, representatives of different state bodies, international organizations, NGOs.
In her speech E. Suleymanova noted that each sustainable development goal plays an important role in ensuring of human rights. She added within the framework of national consultations along with other state bodies, the Commissioner also conducted interactive discussions by involving different groups of population, mass media representatives, active women and the youth in Baku and in regions.
The Commissioner made several proposals and recommendations at the event like to learn SDGs, “Azerbaijan 2020: Outlook to Future” Development Conception, National Programs of Actions, strategic Road Maps; to strengthen social activism, participation of NGOs; to involve specialized NGOs to the work of Working Groups consisting of the representatives of state bodies on relevant fields for defining national priorities on SDGs and to conduct regular discussions and consultations; to involve the youth to participation; to analyze the reports of foreign countries and learn international experience in this regards; to analyze the work done on SDGs every year together with NGOs; identify positive results and shortcomings etc.
She called everyone to cooperate for achieving these goals.
