The UNESCO, the Law Department of the Oxford University, the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights, and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland jointly organized a global conference on the topic “The Imortance of Online Space for Accessing Information”, dedicated to 28th September- the International Day for Universal Access to Information.
Ms. Lamiya Zeynalova, Head of the Department on Protection of the Right to Information of the Ombudsman Office and Ms. Aynur Hamidova, and the Head of the Unit for Ensuring the Right to Information, joined this event online.
The significance of effective accessibility to the internet and other digital technologies, and the removal of internet shutdowns for ensuring the fundamental human rights was stressed at the event.
Furthermore, discussions were held around the issues of internet-related challenges and capabilities, the importance of online access to information and the role of the accessibility to internet in the simplification of the realisation of human rights.
