Ombudsman conducted a visit to TDP and Investigation Isolator

Upon the instruction of the Commissioner, National preventive Group (NPG) members conducted a visit to Temporary Detention Place and Investigation Isolator of the State Security Service without prior notice.

The aim of this visit was to investigate applications sent to the Ombudsman and to evaluate the situation of ensuring the rights of the detainees.

During the visit, the quality of food, nutrition, healthcare service, walking and state of ensuring other rights of the detained persons were monitored. In order to assess the treatment in the facility, the detainees were privately interviewed.

The interviewed detainees did not complain about detention conditions and treatment and expressed their satisfaction with the quality of food, walking and of healthcare service.

During the private interviews, the issues raised by detainees regarding investigation of their cases were investigated on spot, each of them were given legal consultations, were explained their rights, the requirements of the legislation and the competences of the Ombudsman.

At the end of the visit, the administration was given recommendations in compliance with national and international laws.
