The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva, presented the annual report for 2023 to the Parliament.
Prior to the speech, the Ombudsman and staff of the Office visited the grave of the National Leader, Heydar Aliyev, and honored his memory with deep respect. In the Alley of Honors, the memory of Zarifa Aliyeva, a well-known ophthalmologist, scientist and academician, was also respected. Afterward, the Alley of Martyrs was visited, and the dearest memory of our martyrs, who died for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our motherland was respected as well.
Later, during an interview with media outlets, Sabina Aliyeva provided information about the issues she would address when presenting the annual report to Parliament. She also stressed that the suggestions and recommendations presented in the report contribute to the effective protection of the rights of various population groups.
During her speech at the Parliament, the Ombudsman gave information about the state of the protection of human rights and freedoms in the Republic of Azerbaijan, activities carried out, current challenges, and upcoming tasks in 2023. In her report for the last year, the Ombudsman offered a number of suggestions and recommendations to more effectively ensure and protect human rights and freedoms in our country.
It should be noted that the Ombudsman's 2023 annual report was placed on the official website of the Institution and submitted to relevant media outlets for wide public dissemination.
