The range of training sessions is continued within the framework of the “2024 Action Plan to Increase the Effectiveness of Protection and Promotion of Human Rights and Freedoms,” approved by the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan.
The next training session, held in the Ombudsman Office and designed for information-holding state institutions, was dedicated to the “Ombudsman’s activities in Ensuring the Right of Access to Information.” The Ombudsman’s North, South, West, and Northwest Regional Centers, as well as the representatives of the Ombudsman Office in the Nakhchevan Autonomous Republic, joined this training online.
During the training, the staff members of the Department on Protection of the Right to Information of the Ombudsman Office made presentations on the topic.
While making presentations, information was provided about national and international legal documents in the field of ensuring the right of access to information, the Ombudsman’s activities in the relevant field, including its function of supervision of the implementation of the requirements arising from the Law on Access to Information, incoming applications, and the status of their provision. Furthermore, it was noted that the Ombudsman participates in international projects related to the right of access to information and was elected a member of the International Conference of Information Commissioners.
The speakers also provided information about educational materials prepared by the Ombudsman Institution in this field.
At the end of the training, discussions on the topic were conducted, and participants' questions were answered.
