Members of the National Preventive Group of Azerbaijani Ombudsman and HREİT delegation conducted a joint monitoring visit

Under the National Preventive Mechanism jurisdiction of the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan, members of the Ombudsman’s National Preventive Group, together with HREIT delegation members, who are on visit in Azerbaijan at the invitation of Sabina Aliyeva, the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan, implemented a monitoring visit to the temporary detention place of the Garadagh Police Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. 

During the meeting, a meeting was first held with the management of the detention facility to gather information about the country’s practices in the relevant field and general information on the facility. 

Then, cells, a medical room, a walking area, a kitchen, and other areas in the facility have been inspected. 

Individuals detained in the facility have been interviewed in a confidential manner, their appeals have been heard, and the documentation has been investigated.
