UNODC Regional Representative based in Samarkand, in collaboration with the Canadian and British embassies in Uzbekistan, held an international event on “Gender and Human Rights Mainstreaming in Preventing and Combating Organized Crime.”
Speaking at the event, Vugar Heydarov, Head of the Department for the Prevention of Torture of the Ombudsman Office of Azerbaijan, informed the participants about measures taken by our country towards preventing transnational crime, and monitoring visits conducted to institutions which individuals cannot leave at their own will within the national preventive mandate of the Ombudsman.
Apart from this, results-based reports about fact-finding missions implemented during the Second Karabakh War and post-conflict period, and educational materials, produced by the Ombudsman Office, were distributed among the members of the UNODC and participants.
