Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva participated in the process of enforcing the pardon order

Sabina Aliyeva, the Human Rights Commissioner of Azerbaijan, participated in the enforcement of the next pardon order, signed by Ilham Aliyev, the President of the country.  

The Ombudsman visited the female penal colony No. 4 of the Penitentiary Service under the Ministry of Justice regarding the enforcement of the order on pardon. 

While speaking at the event, the Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva extended her congratulations to the convicted persons on granting them pardon and pointed out that the signing of a pardon order on the occasion of 28 May –Independence Day is another manifestation of attention paid to upholding human rights and freedoms in Azerbaijan. 

The orders on pardoning issued by the country’s President, Ilham Aliyev, and amnesty acts initiated by the First Vice-President, Mehriban Aliyeva, are a real indicator of the humanism-based penal enforcement policy of Azerbaijan, said the Ombudsman.   

Afterwards, S. Aliyeva presented the female convicts with their documents of release from the penal colony, congratulating them and their families and called for using opportunities created in the country to safeguard the rights, and social integration and adaptation of the persons released from places of deprivation of liberty and remaining loyal to statehood.  

Those who were pardoned have expressed their gratitude to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the First Vice President, Mehriban Aliyeva, for the consistently implemented humanist policy. 

It should be noted that among those pardoned, there are individuals who were included in the relevant list based on the petitions of the Ombudsman.
