A staff member of the Ombudsman Office participated in a round table at the Police Academy during the "Human Rights Month-Long Campaign"

A round table discussion on "Current Issues of Human Rights in the Modern Era" was held at the Police Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs during the "Human Rights Month-Long Campaign" declared by the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan. The staff members of the Office of the Constitutional Court, and the Institute of Law and Human Rights, as well as faculty, police officers, and cadets, took part in the event.

At the event, Mugalib Mahmudov, Head of the Unit at the Department for Cooperation with International Organizations and Civil Society Institutions of the Ombudsman Office, gave a speech on "Ensuring Human Rights and Freedoms as the Main Objective of the State of Azerbaijan." He spoke about legal reforms implemented at the national level, as well as the last measures taken to improve the Ombudsman’s activities.

Other speakers at the event covered a range of topics, such as the constitutional protection of human rights in Azerbaijan, the protection of human rights in law-making processes, human rights reforms, respect for human rights during law enforcement's operational search activities, and the applicable human rights standards in police operations in Azerbaijan.

Later, discussions around the presentations were held, and the questions of the participants of the event were answered.
