It had been 33 years since the final group of Azerbaijanis were deported from the present territory of Armenia.
Throughout history, at different periods, especially in the last century, hundreds of thousands of our compatriots were displaced from the present territory of Armenia due to their ethnic background. They became victims of crimes against humanity and war crimes, being ruthlessly murdered, severely injured, as well as captured, disappeared, and taken hostage.
Azerbaijanis' fundamental human rights and freedoms have been flagrantly violated as a result of hate crimes and the ethnic cleansing policies of Armenia. The Azerbaijani Ombudsman has prepared special reports and video material on the hate crimes and hate speech committed by Armenia against Azerbaijanis and presented them to the corresponding international organizations.
The international community must take necessary measures to ensure the right to return of Azerbaijanis who were deported from the current territory of Armenia and to create conditions for their safe and dignified return to their homeland. Serious pressure should be applied to that country to address this historical injustice.
