A round table on the right to vote of citizens was organized in Guba by the Ombudsman Office and the Central Election Commission in connection with the upcoming snap elections to the Parliamentary.
Hüseyn Pashayev, a member of the Commission, talked about the public-awareness activities conducted in the run-up to the snap elections to the Parliament, emphasizing the significance of the events organized jointly by the Commission and the Ombudsman Office. It was also given a summary of works to be scheduled.
The Head of the Office, Aydın Safikhanli, said that these awareness-raising events that are conducted in activities carried out continuously in Baku and the regions are held at the initiative of Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva, with the support of the Commission.
Mr. Safikhanli spoke about measures being taken to better safeguard citizens' rights to vote and stand for election and the importance of the observation institute. It was said that dated back to their previous extensive experiences, the Ombudsman and the staff would, on their own initiative, observe the parliamentary elections.
Subsequently, Rustam Babayev, the Senior Advisor of the Media and Communication Department of the Secretariat in the Commission, gave a presentation on the Commission’s activities, including the conditions created for voters to freely exercise their constitutional rights, also highlighting the roles of media outlets in the electoral process.
The discussions were held around the topic, during which the questions of the participants were answered.
It should be noted that the first joint awareness-raising event related to the early parliamentary elections, organized by the Ombudsman Office and the Central Election Commission, was held in Baku with the participation of Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva, CEC Chairman Mazahir Panahov, and representatives of district election commissions.
