The Ombudsman’s West Regional Center held an awareness event on the protection of the PWDs rights

The event was jointly organized by the Ombudsman's West Regional Center, and the Ganja branch of the Disabled Women’s Society jointly held a legal awareness event on the topic "The Role of the Ombudsman in Protecting the Rights of PWDs" within the framework of the implementation of 2024 Action Plan approved by the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan, aimed at increasing the effectiveness of the protection and promotion of human rights and freedoms, the rights of persons with disabilities (PWDs), ensuring the right to equality, and preventing discrimination.  

At the event, the head of the Ombudsman's West Regional Center, S. Abbasov, said that the protection of the rights of PWDs is one of the main areas of activity for the Ombudsman and provided information on the activities carried out in this direction.

Furthermore, the last amendments to the Constitutional Law "On the Ombudsman" were discussed, highlighting the expanded mandate of the Commissioner in the protection of the rights of PWDs and other areas. 

At the end, participants' questions on the topic were thoroughly answered.
