International Baku Forum has started its work

The International Baku Forum on "Climate Change and Human Rights: The Role of Ombudsmen and National Human Rights Institutions" has commenced its work.

The event brings together ombudsmen and representatives of national human rights institutions from about 30 countries, high-ranking officials from government agencies, representatives of civil society organizations, heads and representatives of several international organizations, and climate change and human rights experts.

The aim of the forum is to discuss the challenges posed by global climate change and explore solutions from a human rights perspective, as well as to share positive experiences in this area.

The event will feature an award ceremony for the winners of the research-essay competition on "Climate Change and Human Rights," announced for students by the Ombudsman and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The forum will host panel sessions on the following topics: "Support strategies for NHRIs and ombudsman offices in climate change initiatives," "Public access to information on climate change and its effects," "Cooperation Perspectives and collaborative development," "Climate change and its intersection with Landmines and Explosive remnants of war (ERW)," and " Fostering business accountability in the context of climate change."
