The participants of the International Baku Forum conducted an observational visit to the liberated territories.
In addition to the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva, ombudspersons from Turkiye, Hungary, Kyrgyzstan, the Philippines, Kenya, North Macedonia, Morocco, and Moldova, as well as heads of NHRIs, information commissioners, and human rights experts, took part in this visit.
On-site observations, which are conducted to inform the participants about a number of crimes committed as a result of Armenia's military aggression against Azerbaijan, including genocide, urbicide, ecocide, culturecide, etc., are planned to be carried out in the liberated territories, including in Agdam.
The International Baku Forum of Ombudsmen held on October 2, was attended by 200 participants in total, including over 60 guests from around 30 countries, such as ombudspersons and NHRI representatives, information commissioners, high-ranking state officials, leaders and representatives of CSOs and various international organizations, and climate change and human rights experts.
The global climate change challenges and their solutions from a human rights perspective and successful relevant experiences were discussed in the forum.
At the end, the Declaration of the International Baku Forum of Ombudsmen was announced and unanimously adopted. The declaration aims to enhance the role of ombudsmen and NHRIs in addressing ecological issues, and increasing public awareness.
