The West Regional Center of the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan organized legal awareness events in Ganja and Dashkasan during the “Child Rights Month-Long Campaign” declared by the Ombudsman, Sabina Aliyeva, between 20 October and 20 November.
The events on the themes "The rights and responsibilities of children", "Let’s be aware of our rights and protect the environment!" and "Environment and Child Rights" were organized at the Ganja city children’s home No. 4 of the Social Service Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population, the Ganja City Integration Training Boarding Gymnasium under the Ministry of Science and Education, and secondary school No. 1 in Dashkasan district. During those events, the head of the West Regional Center, Sabuhi Abbasov, informed the participants about the Ombudsman’s activities carried out to protect children's rights and the expansion of the mandate on children's rights as a result of amendments to the Constitutional Law on the Ombudsman.
In addition, taking into account that 2024 has been declared a " Year of Solidarity for a Green World" in Azerbaijan and that our country will host COP29 in November, discussions were held on protecting the rights of children as a population group affected by climate change and its consequences, as well as raising their awareness in this area. The participants’ questions were also answered.
