The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan announces traditional journalistic writings and children's drawing competitions on the occasion of December 10, International Human Rights Day.
Given that one of the goals of the UN SDGs is to combat climate change, and that 2024 is declared in Azerbaijan as the “Green World Solidarity Year”, and that our country will host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN FCCC (COP29), the present year, the theme of both competitions is “Climate Change and Human Rights”.
Journalistic Writings Competitition Requirements:
• The author's writings to be submitted to the competition should be published in any newspaper or on any website in our country.
• A form should be completed (brief information about the author, and contact numbers should be indicated).
• A photo of the author in size of 4x5 should be attached.
Children’s Drawing Competition Requirements:
• Children aged 6-18 can participate in the competition;
• The drawings should be done on A3 paper;
• A form should be filled out (providing brief information about the participant child, and contact numbers). You can find the form at the link provided for the relevant announcement on the Ombudsman's official website;
• One photo of the participant, sized 4x5 (submitted along with the drawings), should be presented;
• The artwork should be relevant to the theme of the competition;
• The drawing must be original in terms of theme, idea, artistic technique, and style (and should not have been submitted to other drawing competitions).
Note: Drawings that are not relevant to the theme of the competition will not be considered. Participants can retrieve their drawings within 10 days after the end of the competition. Winning drawings will not be returned.
For the competition, both journalistic writings and children's drawings must be submitted to the Ombudsman's Office (80 U.Hacıbəyli Street, Government House, Entrance II) by December 1, 2023, until 18:00.
