The presentation of the OIC IPHRC Report on Azerbaijan was held

The Ombudsman Office of Azerbaijan held a presentation of the fact-finding mission report on human rights and the humanitarian situation in the territories liberated from Armenian occupation prepared by the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC IPHRC).

In her speech, the Ombudsman emphasized that colonialism, racism, intolerance, double standards, discrimination, and Islamophobia are increasing in certain countries, and that the lack of response from international organizations to these issues results in the violation of human rights and freedoms.

The Ombudsman stated that Armenia's long-standing policy of hatred, ethnic cleansing, and deportation led to numerous crimes, such as crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes, genocide, ecocide, urbicide, and cultureside against Azerbaijan and its peaceful population. Despite repeated reports, statements, and appeals to international organizations by the Ombudsman institution, no effective action has been taken, and Azerbaijan remains one of the countries most affected by intolerance, double standards, and discrimination.

The Ombudsman reminded that effective cooperation has been established with a number of international organizations, including the OIC IPHRC, to investigate the human rights violations of Azerbaijanis, as enshrined in international legal documents, and which have been infringed as a result of Armenia's occupation policy. She also noted that the OIC IPHRC delegation has conducted two fact-finding missions in Azerbaijan.

Then, the Chief of Staff of the Ombudsman Office and member of the OIC IPHRC, Aydın Safikhanlı, gave a detailed presentation on the relevant Report on Azerbaijan, highlighting that the main purpose of the delegation's visit was to conduct an on-site investigation of religious and cultural monuments and cemeteries belonging to Azerbaijan and destroyed by Armenia, collect facts on Azerbaijanis affected by the occupation and missile attacks, and prepare a report based on the findings to be presented to the international community.

The Chief of Staff said that the report prepared as a result of the follow-up visit includes recommendations to be addressed to international organizations by the Commission in question. He notes that the report provides information on international law and international humanitarian law norms violated by Armenia. He added that the report was approved within the framework of the 50th Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC and was later published on the official website of the relevant Commission.

Finally, the participants watched the social video titled 'Death Trap,' featuring interviews with employees of the Ombudsman’s Office, the Ministry of Defense, and the Mine Action Agency, discussing Armenia's mine terror against Azerbaijan, which was prepared as a joint project run by the National Heritage Cultural and Historical Research Fund with financial support from the State Agency for Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
