Trainings were organized within the framework of the project "Protecting children from harmful and dangerous information in the digital society"

The project "Protecting Children from Harmful and Dangerous Information in the Digital Society" is being implemented with the organization of the "Regional Development" Public Union, the support of "Nar", and in partnership with the Ombudsman Office, the Ministry of Science and Education, the State Committee for Family, Women and Children's Issues, the Association of Cybersecurity Organizations and ADA University. 

This time the project covered secondary schools No. 179 and 322 in Baku, secondary schools No. 10 named after M. Hadi and No. 29 named after K.D. Ushinski in Ganja, secondary schools No. 2 named after T. Yagubov in Bum settlement and No. 2 named after H. Rashidov in Vandam settlement in Gabala district, secondary schools No. 2 named after T. Bayramalibeyov and No. 5 named after R. Mammadov in Lankaran city.

Azer Isali, Senior Advisor in the Child Rights Protection Unit in the Ombudsman Office informed children about the threats existing in the digital environment and methods of protection against them, as well as related legislative acts. The trainings covered the issues of effects of cyberbullying, internet addiction, harmful games, and materials with undesirable content on children. The lecturer gave advice to children and parents on how to ensursafety in the online environment. Furthermore, the information about the Ombudsman's activities in the protection of children's rights in the digital environment, as well as information on the opportunities for children to appeal to the Commissioner, were brought to the attention of the participants.

During the trainings, participants were given various tasks and their opinions were listened to, and discussions were held. More than 1,000 students and more than 400 parents benefited from the trainings. Representatives of the Azerbaijan Association of Cybersecurity Organizations also made speeches on relevant topics during those trainings.

Various educational materials on children's rights and safety in the digital environment, including the Ombudsman Office’ publications were distributed to the participants.

It should be noted that the goal of the project is to increase awareness of children and parents about the rules for the appropriate and safe use of digital technologies in order to ensure the protection of their rights.
