
The North and Northwest Regional Centers of the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan held legal-awareness events on the topics "Mental health and human rights" and "Rights of persons with mental health disorders and mental illness" at the Guba Interregional Psychoneurological Center and the Sheki Regional Psychiatric Hospital.
At the events, it was said that the protection of the rights of persons living with mental health problems is one of the activity directions of the Ombudsman, and the participants were informed about activities carried out in this field. Also, it was emphasized that at the initiative of the Commissioner a Working Group on Mental Health and Human Rights was established under the Ombudsman.
Furthermore, comprehensive information on the amendments made in the Constitutional Law on the Ombudsman of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the mandate of the Ombudsman's National Preventive Mechanism, the Call Center “916”, and the Law on Psychiatric Assistance was provided, and the questions of the participants were answered.
