The employees of the Ombudsman Office participated in the meeting of the CoE Steering Committee of the Project on Promoting media professionalism and freedom of information in Azerbaijan

The meeting of the Steering Committee of the Council of Europe's Project "Promoting media professionalism and freedom of information in Azerbaijan" was held.

The purpose of the meeting attended by the employees of the Ombudsman Office, the management of the CoE Baku Office, representatives from Azerbaijani universities, and experts was to discuss the results achieved during the previous period within the framework of the project and the future tasks planned in the activity plan.

During her speech at the meeting, Aynur Hamidova, the head of the Unit at the Department for Protection of the Right to Information of the Ombudsman Office, provided information about the activities related to ensuring the right of access to information. It was noted that within the framework of the mandate, the Ombudsman carries out monitoring to ensure that information holding state bodies, local self-government bodies, and persons in charge fulfil their obligations as stated in the national "Law on Access to Information".

It is also underlined that this year the Ombudsman Institution was elected as a full member to the International Conference of Information Commissioners, which holds significant influence in this field.
