The next trainings on the protection of children from violence were held in the capital and districts

The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan was recommended to participate in the implementation of the relevant sub-paragraph titled "Educational events about the negative consequences of all kinds of violence against children for the purpose of education, involving media subjects on the expansion of the circle of the Ombudsman" of the "Action Plan for the Implementation of the Children's Strategy for 2020-2025", approved by the Presidential Order of 27 November, 2020.

To achieve this goal, a series of training sessions on "Protection of Children from Violence" were conducted in general public schools located in the capital and districts, in collaboration between the Ombudsman Office and the Ministry of Education and Science with the participation of psychologists, teachers, and students.

As a continuation of the training sessions held this year, training sessions were conducted by the staff of the Child Rights Protection Unit in various secondary schools in Baku, including secondary school No. 286 in Yasamal district, secondary school No. 240 in Nasimi district, secondary school No. 165 in Khatai district, secondary school No. 110 in Garadagh district, secondary school No. 297 in Binagadi district, and secondary schools No. 129 and 61 in Nizami district.

Furthermore, in May, the Ombudsman's Regional Offices conducted legal awareness-raising events in 8 schools in Guba district, 2 schools in Sheki city, 2 schools in Masalli district, and 1 educational institution in Yardimli district.

During the trainings, students were provided with information about the existing normative legal acts and legal protection mechanisms for child rights. The presentations were made on topics such as combating discrimination, abuse, exploitation, neglect, and violence against children, early marriage, child labor, and protection from harmful influences. The participants were also informed about the Ombudsman’s Call Center “916”.

It should be noted that in the current year, a total of over 2,100 people, including 390 in schools located in Baku and 1,670 in disctricts took part in the trainings.
