The International Conference of Information Commissioners (ICIC) elected the Azerbaijan Ombudsman Institution as a new full member

The Ombudsman Institution of Azerbaijan has been elected a new full-fledged member of the International Conference of Information Commissioners (ICIC).

This organization, which has a great reputation in the field of ensuring the right to access to information, combines information commissioners, as well as ombudsmen and other institutions functioning in other fields, in order to implement the protection and promotion of access to public information.

It should be noted that, at the initiative of Sabina Aliyeva, the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan, the Department of Protection of the Right to Access to Information was established on the premises of the Ombudsman Office in 2020. As required by law, the Department deals with issues relating to the protection of the right to access to information, reviews and responds to information requests in relation to violations of this right, ensures promotion of the right to access to information, and conducts, in addition to organizing legal awareness events and monitoring in the relevant field.
