Ms. Lamiya Zeynalova, Head of the Department on Protection of the Right to Information of the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, participated in the training held in the frame of the “Human Rights Education: Young Activists and Lawyers for Gender Equality” Project, run by the Gender Hub Azerbaijan and "ELSA", Azerbaijan youth organizations.
The goal of this event, which was funded by the EU and organized by the OHCHR, is to raise awareness in the field of human rights, especially gender equality.
During the training, Ms. L. Zeynalova gave information to the participants on the Ombudsman’s activity in the field of protection of women’s rights and promotion of gender equality.
She also underlined the importance of educational activities on the prevention of causes of violence against women, its consequences, and forms, domestic violence, early marriages, and truancy, and spoke about the work of the Ombudsman in this field.
It was also noted that the Ombudsman sensitively investigates the applications, addressed to her, regarding the violations of women’s rights, takes regularly appropriate actions, and consequently, achieved the restoration of the violated rights of women.
In the training, an exchange of vieüs was held on the protection of women’s rights and ensuring gender equality, and the questions raised by the participants have been answered. The educational booklets produced by the Ombudsman Office have been presented and a video clip was demonstrated.
