Ms. Sabina Aliyeva, the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, had a meeting with the next group of student interns at the Office.
During the meeting, attended by the undergraduate students of the Law Faculty of the Baku State University and the International Relations, Political Science, and Regional Studies faculties of the Khazar University, the Ombudsman gave information about legal reforms carried out at the national level and works implemented by the Office towards the protection of human rights.
S.Aliyeva, touching upon the issue of extending her mandate at the national level in compliance with international legal norms, spoke about the recent proposed amendments to "the Constitutional Law on the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan".
Then the Ombudsman told about the initiatives and measures undertaken within the "Heydar Aliyev Year". It was said that a number of documents of strategic importance were prepared and approved under the leadership of the Great Leader, whose 100th birth anniversary is celebrated with great respect in order to effectively ensure human rights and freedoms.
During the meeting, the Ombudsman pointed out that internships play an important role for students in strengthening their theoretical knowledge that they acquired in the field of law during the academic years.
At the end, the Ombudsman recommended that students be involved in the structural units corresponding to the fields in which they want to specialize in the future.
