The Ombudsman Office conducts trainings in general secondary schools

The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan was recommended to be engaged in the implementation of the "Action Plan on the Implementation of the Child Strategy for 2020-2025", approved by the Presidential Order No. 2306 dated November 27, 2020, and the relevant sub-paragraph on expanding the scope by "involving mass media in educational activities about the negative consequences of all kinds of violence against children".

For this reason, the Ombudsman Office, in cooperation with the Ministry of Science and Education, held trainings on "Protecting children from violence" with the participation of students and teaching staff in general secondary schools No. 90 in Sabunchu district, No. 212 in Narimanov district, and No. 156 in Khazar district.

During the trainings, the employees of the Child Rights Protection Unit at the Ombudsman Office made a presentation to inform participants about the existing national and international legal framework on the protection of child rights, the protection of children from all forms of violence and discrimination, and about the activities of the Ombudsman's 916 Call Center.

During the role-playing trainings, the children performed role-plays on the methods of protecting children's rights, and topics related to domestic violence, early marriage, gender-based violence, cybercrime, child labor, bullying, and others were discussed. At the end of the interactive discussions, the students' questions were answered.

It should be noted that educational events are planned to be held in other districts of Baku as well as in general education schools located in the cities and districts of Ganja, Sheki, Guba, and Masalli.
