The Commisioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva participated as an honored guest in the 5th anniversary ceremony of the international Congress “Different Individuals” dedicated to the issues of persons with special needs.
During her speech, the Ombudsman said that the protection of the rights of children in need of special care, and that the State determines social policy, including taking complex measures for their social protection and rehabilitation.
Emphasizing the importance of the protection of the rights of all vulnerable groups of the population, the Ombudsman spoke about activities in the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities. She also stressed the necessity of increasing financial and human resources for the organizations of inclusive education, preparing children for inclusive education at an early age, educating their parents and training professional specialists. The importance of educational measures related to social inclusion of autistic persons and increasing public awareness in the field of autism was also brought to the attention of the participants.
S. Aliyeva noted the importance of early identification of children with mental development problems and providing them with timely help.
In the end, the Ombudsman called on everyone to closely support the effective provision of the rights of people in need of special care.
