Ombudsman received the delegation from the Office of International Religious Freedom of the US State Department

Ms. Sabina Aliyeva, the Commisioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Ombudsman) received the Deputy Ambassador for Special Assignments of the Office of International Religious Freedom of the US State Department, Ms. Carson Relits Roker and Counselor for Europe and Central Asia, Ms. Johanna Wolfsberg.

During the meeting, the guests were informed about Ombudsman`s activities, visits carried out under the mandate of the National Preventive Mechanism, newly created departments and units in the Institution. S. Aliyeva said that accessibility is provided for people from all groups of the population to apply to the Ombudsman and all applications are threated sensitively without any discrimination.

S. Aliyeva also informed about the activities in the field of international cooperation and underlined the importance of the exchange of experience with foreign partner institutions.

In addition, it was brought to attention that the Ombudsman’s four regional centers carry out legal awareness activities on topical issues in the across the country, and that there is close cooperation with the state and local non-governmental organizations in this field.

Later, mutual opinions were exchanged and questions were answered.

In the end, the members of the delegation were presented with postage stamps dedicated to the 20^th anniversary of the Ombudsman institution and educational publications prepared by the Institution.
