During her official trip to the Kingdom of Morocco, the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsperson) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva, met with Amina Bouayach, the Chairperson of the National Human Rights Council of the Kingdom.
During the meeting, the Ombudsperson gave information about the reforms and activities implemented in the country in the field of human rights.
Talking about the activity of the new structural units established in the institution, the Ombudsperson focused on the work done in the field of the right to access information, protection of the rights of children and persons with disabilities. It was noted that in order to make it easier for people to apply to the Ombudsperson, a 24/7 call center was set up in the institution.
In the meeting, information was also given about the institution's activities within the framework of international cooperation. It was noted that the Ombudsperson of Azerbaijan is currently the vice-president of the Asian Ombudsman Association, and within the framework of that Association, important work is being done to strengthen cooperation between the ombudsman institutes of the Far and Near East countries.
Touching upon the activity of the Ombudsman Institution as a National Human Rights Institution, S. Aliyeva also informed about her activity within the framework of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions, which has an important role in studying international experience in the field of human rights.
At the meeting, views were also exchanged on various areas of human rights and prospects of cooperation between the two institutions were discussed.
