Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva met with her Ukrainian colleague

Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva participates in the international conference in Ankara, held in occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Turkish Ombudsman Institution.

During the conference, Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva held several meetings with her foreign counterparts. One of such meetings was held with the Ukrainian Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman), Dmitro Lubinets. At the meeting,  the collaboration between the ombudsman institutions of both countries, the current state of effective protection and ensuring human rights, and the prospects for cooperation in these areas were discussed.

S. Aliyeva asked the Ukrainian Ombudsman to pay attention to the issue of protection of the rights of Azerbaijani citizens, Misir Gasimli and Subhan Guliyev, who were currently holding in detention in Ukraine.

Both ombudsmen emphasized the importance to furtherly develop cooperation in the field of protection of human rights and freedoms. 

It must be noted that during his interview at the conference, the Ukrainian Ombudsman expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for humanitarian assistance to Ukrainians and acknowledged the significant role played by Sabina Aliyeva, the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan in this matter.
