Ombudsman spoke at the international conference

The Human Rights Commissioner of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva spoke at the hybrid international conference on “Multistakeholder Dialogue in Central Asia: Women and Girls at risk. Addressing root causes of violence and supporting the survivors. Enhancing the Access to Justice” held in Kazakhstan through the videoconferencing device.

In her speech, the Ombudsman said that violence against women is universally considered the most widespread form of violence, which necessitates our joint efforts to end that.

S. Aliyeva spoke on the complex measures taken in Azerbaijan to ensure and protect women’s rights and promote gender equality and the increased attention to the issue of legally enlightening the general public in this field.

The importance of awareness-raising operations in terms of the active participation of women in social-economic, socially-political and cultural life, especially the stimulation of self-employment and entrepreneurship among women was emphasized.  

The Ombudsman, stating that as in other countries, in Azerbaijan different awareness-raising activities are organized in connection with the 25th November – International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, said that every year, from 25th November to 10th December, joint events with public institutions are held within the framework of the "16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence" campaign.
