Ombudsman's North-West Regional Center held an event on the role of legal education in preventing domestic violence

Ombudsperson’s North-West Regional Center held an event on the legal education in preventing domestic violence (DV) in Yeni Suvagil village of Zagatala district. The event was attended by local executive and self-governing bodies and inhabitants.   

The head of the North-West Regional Center, Parviz Mammadov highlighted that DV, accompanied with physical, psychical, sexual abuse or illegal restrictions of economic nature, this issue has existed in our country as a problem as well, however, the Ombudsman keeps this issue in her focus. In his speech, it was noted that legal education takes a specific role in preventing DV and raising public awareness on its negative legal, medical and social consequences as a preventive measure.  

Meanwhile, the participants were informed of the norms of the Law of Azerbaijan on Prevention of Domestic Violence, as well as the goal, directions and main principles of the “National Action Plan on the Fight Against Domestic Violence in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2020-2023 years”.
