The UN Third Regional Forum on Business and Human Rights in Eastern Europe and Central Asia was held in Istanbul/Turkey.
In this international event, which was attended by 59 participants from 17 countries, a presentation of the UN Road Map for the Next Decade of Business and Human Rights was made.
Mr. Rashad Novruzov, head of the Civil and Political Rights Unit at the Ombudsman Office, participated in the event as a speaker, made a speech on the role of national human rights institutions and ombudspersons in the implementation of the Road Map + 10 and the UN Guiding Principles. Mr. Novruzov stated the importance of the adoption of a National Action Plan on business and human rights and made his suggestions on the enforcement of the Road Map.
In the Forum, discussions were made around the issues of strengthening the mandates of ombuds institutions and preparation of regional action plans.
