Regional Centers of the Ombudsperson held awareness raising events dedicated to December 3 - International Day of Persons with Disabilities

The Northwest, the West and the South Regional Centers of the Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsperson) of the Republic of Azerbaijan organized awareness raising events dedicated to December 3 - the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

At the event jointly held at the Sheki Rehabilitation Center by the Northwest Regional Center of the Ombudsperson, the State Medical Social Expertise and Rehabilitation Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, the head of the Regional Center Parviz Mammadov emphasized that the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities is under the focus of the Ombudsperson and spoke about the measures taken in our republic for strengtheningthe social protection of these people.At the same time, the provisions of the UN Convention "On the Rights of Persons with Disabilities" and the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On the Rights of Persons with Disabilities" were brought to the attention of the event participants.

The next event was held by the West Regional Center of the Ombudsperson and the Ganja city branch of the Disabled Women's Society within the framework of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and the "16 days of activism against gender-based violence" campaign.In his speech, the head of the Western Regional Center, Sabuhi Abbasov, gave detailed information about the work done by the Commissioner for protection of human rights and freedoms and ensuring the rights of persons with disabilities, as well as the activities carried out in the field of combating gender-based violence and domestic violence. In the end, the appeals of women with disabilities and other participants addressed to the Ombudsperson were accepted on the spot by the employees of the Regional Center, and their rights were explained to them.

The South Regional Center of the Ombudsperson held events in Masalli Youth House and Social Entrepreneurship and Employment Center located in Masalli Industrial District jointly with the Masalli District Youth and Sports Department and the "Masalli Youth House" Social Service Institution.

The head of the Regional Center, Ziya Ismayilov, spoke about the reforms carried out in our country in the field of protection of the rights of persons with disabilities. In addition, touching upon the S. Aliyeva's broad activities in this direction, he said that issues related to the social and legal state of persons with disabilities are always in the focus of the Ombudsperson.
