Regional centers of the Ombudsperson held awareness raising events related to the World AIDS Day

The regional centers of the Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsperson) of the Republic of Azerbaijan organized awareness raising events dedicated to December 1 - World AIDS Day.

An event on "Medical and legal aspects of the fight against AIDS" was co-organized by the Western Regional Center of the Ombudsperson, the Azerbaijan University of Technology and the Ganja Regional Laboratory of the Republican Center for the Fight against AIDS, at the Azerbaijan University of Technology with participation of students.

At the end of the event, booklets on the fight against AIDS were distributed among the participants, and voluntary testing was carried out in the mobile test car of the Ganja Regional Laboratory of the Center for the Fight against AIDS.

The Southern Regional Center of the Ombudsperson, together with Jalilabad District Youth and Sports Department and Jalilabad Vocational High School, held an awareness event on the World AIDS Day.

An event dedicated to the World AIDS Day was held at the Guba State Social and Economic College under the joint organization of the Northern Regional Center of the Ombudsperson and the Republican Center for the Fight against AIDS.

The North-western Regional Center of the Ombudsperson together with the Sheki Regional Laboratory of the Republican AIDS Center held an event at the Sheki Branch of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University.

During their speeches at the events, the heads of the regional centers informed about the aim of celebrating this day in the world, as well as the measures implemented to fight A?DS in our country. The provisions of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On combating the disease caused by the human immunodeficiency virus", including the rights and duties of people living with HIV, were brought to attention.

In the speeches, the participants were also informed about the activities of the Ombudsperson in the direction of protecting the rights of people infected with HIV/AIDS, awareness events organized in this regard, and mutually beneficial cooperation with the Republican Center for Combating AIDS.
