Staff of the Ombudsman Office participated in the global conference held in Uzbekistan

A global conference on "Artificial intelligence, e-governance and access to information" dedicated to the International Day for Universal Access to Information was held in Tashkent under the auspices of UNESCO and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Lamiya Zeynalova, the head of the Protection of the right to access to information Department of the Ombudsman Office, and Aynur Hamidova, the head of the right to access to information unit took part in the conference.

While making a presentation in the 4th panel of the Conference entitled "Laws on access to information and measuring progress in their implementation", Ms. Zeynalova said that in Azerbaijan, important work has been done to better ensure the freedom of access to information. She also added that the Ombudsman Institution contributed to the achievement of these developments as an important mechanism by monitoring the fulfillment of duties arising from the requirements of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Access to Information".

During the speech, the participants of the conference were given extensive information about the activities of the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan in ensuring, protection and promoting the right of access to information, carrying out legal education and monitoring in the relevant area, protocols, compiled, for the administrative violation of this right, as well as the activity carried in other areas dealing with this right.
