Ombudsman's representative spoke at the events on combating trafficking in human beings and protecting the rights of persons with disabilities

The Head of the Ombudsman's Southern Regional Center Mr. Ziya Ismayilov participated in an event entitled "Don't become a human trafficking victim!" that was jointly organized by Masalli Youth House Social Care Facility and Masalli District Youth and Sports Department.

During the event, he made a speech on "Trafficking in human beings: threats and implementation of preventive measures". The speech also enlightened the participants on the activities of the Ombudsman Institution in the field of combating trafficking in human beings.

The event brought together the staff members of various departments and entities, as well as active youth representatives.

Another awareness-raising event was co-organized by the Ombudsman's Southern Regional Center and the Small and Medium Business (SMB) Development Agency's Masalli SMB Office on the topic of "The basics of state policy on persons with disabilities and the role of state bodies in the protection of their rights". The event hosted in the Social Entrepreneurship and Employment Center was attended by people with limited health capacities and persons from vulnerable social groups.

While speaking about the care for ensuring the rights of persons with disabilities, the Head of the Regional Center Mr. Ismayilov underlined the establishment of the Unit for Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities at the initiative of the Ombudsman Ms. Sabina Aliyeva.

He also touched upon the main principles of relevant state policy, the basics of the legal status of this population group, the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and the importance of public education in this field.

In conclusion, the participants of the event expressed their opinions, and the questions raised by them were addressed.
