Ombudsman's Western Regional Center held an awareness event on "The right of access to information"

The Western Regional Center of the Ombudsman held an awareness event on "The right of access to information" with the participation of young volunteers in Ganja Regional "ASAN Service" Center No.2.

During his speech at the event, the Head of the Ombudsman's Western Regional Center Mr. Sabuhi Abbasov stated that everyone has the right to access information about the events and facts that influence the social environment, and also are of interest and importance to people. Mr. Abbasov added that this right is an integral part of the freedom of opinion. He noted that on the initiative of the Ombudsman Ms. Sabina Aliyeva, a special department on the protection of the right of access to information was established at the Office. It was also highlighted that the Ombudsman Office organizes consecutive awareness events on this topic.

Mr. Abbasov informed the participants in detail about the provisions of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan On Access to Information and answered the questions addressed to him.

In the end, educational booklets of the Ombudsman Office on the right of access to information were distributed among the participants of the event.
