On the eve of 30 August, the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances, the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) Ms. Sabina Aliyeva held a meeting with the family members of our citizens, who were captured or went missing during the First Karabakh War.
During the meeting, it was stressed that Armenia's failure to provide information to this day about the whereabouts of 3890 Azerbaijanis, who were captured, taken hostage or went missing during the First Karabakh War and afterward, is contrary to the norms of international law, especially the international humanitarian law.
It was also reiterated that the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan regularly brings to attention this issue during meetings with the representatives of international organizations and her visits to foreign countries.
During the meeting, the Commissioner listened to the problems of the family members of our captured and missing citizens and mentioned that the necessary steps will be taken for resolving their appeals.
